BRASSERIE AT
MIȚA BICICLISTA
IS NOW OPEN

The brasserie on the ground floor of Stabilimentul Creativ La Mița Biciclista is the most open of the building's spaces, with large windows facing Biserica Amzei and Cristian Tell streets. Light fills the interior in abundance during the day, and in the evening the light of the space warms this corner of the historic district.

Period: 2023-2024
Client: La Mița Biciclista Creative Establishment
Chief arch: arch. Eliza Yokina
Team: arch. Ruxandra Grigoraș; arch. Iulian Badărău; arch. int. Mihai Birtu
Restoration Consultant: Smaranda Baciu
Project management: Prografic - Lavinia Moraru, Elena Ifrim
Execution: Cella Cosimex - General constructor
Photo: Catalin Georgescu

Setting up the brasserie was yet another foray into the protagonist's personality - an exercise in imagination that brings into the story real biographical facts, traits of her known personality and some recomposed ones. If the upstairs bar was an invitation to Mita's exclusive boudoir, the Brasseria is an open door to the guest lounge. A salon in which, if preserved, we would probably have had an ornate ceiling, golden chandeliers, paneled walls and marble floors with floral inlays, velvet draperies, carved and upholstered furniture, silver and crystal ornaments.

Today we imagined the Brasseria as a place open to the city where you can read part of the protagonist's personality and the brilliance of the beginning of the century.

(The project consisted in the complete fitting out of the brasserie and the related sales point spaces, mixology, pastry and kitchen laboratories, bathrooms and changing rooms.)

BRICK HOUSE - 1st PRIZE WINNER FOR “BUILT ARCHITECTURE / INDIVIDUAL DWELLING ARCHITECTURE” @ AAB2024

The Reclaimed Brick House represents an accurate response to the urban context and the urban planning constraints of the area that shaped this volume on a difficult-to-build lot. The design process involved obtaining several urban planning certificates and strictly respect of all setbacks and regulations of the area, as well as legal requirements

Status: Built
Year: 2016-2023
Location: Bucharest, Romania
Client: Private
Built area: 250 sqm;
Footprint : 75 sqm;
Budget: 350.000 euro
Chief arhitect: arh.Eliza Yokina
Team: arh. Alexandru Cătăuță, interior: arh. Andrada Tarau
Render: Alexandru Cătăuță, Ioana Penescu; Razvan Malancoiu
General designer: Cumulus Architecture
Height: S+P+2ER
Instalation: Deteco; Alyates; Decolight
Structure: Series Consulting

At the same time, the client's desire for an industrial-looking house with a brick facade led to the solutions of creating an identity built on reclaimed brick, metalwork, and thin-framed windows. Bricl is used as mono material for facades and pavement in the courtyard and terraces. The interior layout is functional, with minimal spaces resulting from the building's configuration and surface limitations. The main facade faces north, and the need for direct natural light throughout the day led to the creation of a skylight above the staircase, whose light reaches the basement through the transparency of the metal staircases of the three levels. The house's interior aims to enhance light, featuring light colors, transparent partitions, and warm finishes.

The house has large glazed openings and also brick latticework to allow for interior privacy while filtering both exterior light during the day and interior light at night. The house is organized around a courtyard which become a second living space during the warm period while the upper stair set back terraces offer views of the neighborhood. Thus, the house negotiates each corner in relation to the blind walls around it, on which it sits.

CUMULS WINS 3rd PRIZE @
”COLENTINA LAKES” COMPETITION

Cumulus wins the 3rd prize in the „Colentina Lakes, 2nd District, Bucharest” International Design Competition

The competition aimed to develop the landscaping of the Colentina lakeshores over the entire length comprised in the 2nd District. By analyzing the geographical context we discover that Bucharest is not a flat city. Actually, the flat does not exist, there is always a slope of a few centimeters, of a few meters or sometimes of even 10 meters. Therefore, our proposal follows to rediscover the subtle slopes.

The objective was to restore the continuity of the public path on the shores by creating a green-blue promenade that offers local support and various recreational and social activities while harmoniously integrating the existing natural environment.

PPC FIRST VICE-PRESIDENT, ARCHITECT RĂZVAN PUCHICI, PROMOTER OF NEW TECHNOLOGIES AT “BIM SEMINAR FOR ARCHITECTS”

The first vice-president of the Romanian Construction Designers Employers' Association, and coordinating partner of Cumulus architecture office, architect Răzvan Puchici, participated, on Thursday, March 28th, in the seminar "BIM for architects", an event organized in Bucharest by CADWARE Engineering, in partnership with GRAPHISOFT.

On this occasion, Răzvan Puchici presented the opportunities and practical applications of the use of BIM in construction design, highlighting the active role that PPC has taken in promoting new technologies.

"As an architect, contractor and first vice-president of the Romanian Construction Designers' Employer's Association, I was happy to share both my professional experience and PPC's vision," said first vice-president Răzvan Puchici. Together with our colleagues in the Employers' Association, we have undertaken to promote the most modern and efficient solutions through which our training and new technologies can generate enormous benefits, both for us, the designers, and for our beneficiaries, the partners. BIM, Artificial Intelligence, optimisation of working procedures are elements that we, as designers, need to incorporate more and more often, more and more deeply into our work processes".

The participants at the seminar "BIM for architects", one of the most important events on design for construction in Romania, appreciated the involvement of the Employers' Association since the early days of its establishment in promoting the professional interests of designers and showed openness towards the PPC vision, which involves digitization and reduction of bureaucracy, both in relation to partners and beneficiaries. Our development depends on the integration of the best technological solutions, but also on the best training of our profession.
